What we do

Three Ways to Get Your Brand Talked About

Each service puts your name on trusted third-party websites, in the places buyers look when they compare options.

Brand Mentions

We earn references to your brand, product or founder in relevant articles, guides and industry coverage, with or without a link.

  • Mentions in context, next to the topics you want to own
  • Links where the publisher allows them
  • Unlinked mentions found and followed up

Best for building recognition and topical association.

Listicle Placements

We get your brand considered for "best of", "top" and "alternatives" lists on websites that cover your category, the articles buyers read to build a shortlist.

  • "Best [category]" and comparison articles
  • "[Competitor] alternatives" roundups
  • Accurate brand details supplied to every editor

Best for SaaS, AI tools, apps and agencies competing for shortlists.

Review Mentions

We help publishers and reviewers write about your product: hands-on editorial reviews, feature comparisons and expert roundups on industry websites.

  • Editorial reviews by real writers and publishers
  • Product access and accurate information for reviewers
  • No fake or purchased customer reviews, ever

Best for products that benefit from detailed, independent write-ups.

The basics

Brand Mentions, Reviews and Listicles Explained

Plain definitions of the terms you will hear in any brand visibility conversation.

What is a brand mention?

A brand mention is any reference to your company, product or founder on another website. A linked mention includes a hyperlink to your site; an unlinked mention names you without one. Both tell readers, and search engines, that other people talk about you.

What is a listicle placement?

A listicle is a list-style article such as "best CRM software" or "top SEO agencies". A listicle placement means your brand is included in one, ideally with a short description and a link. These articles are among the most-read pages when buyers compare options.

What is a review mention?

A review mention is coverage in an article that evaluates your product, such as a hands-on review, a head-to-head comparison or an expert roundup, written and published by a third party. It is not a customer review on a review platform.

How is this different from link building?

Link building focuses on earning links to specific pages. Brand mention work focuses on where and how your brand is described. Many placements include a link too, so the two support each other.

Why it matters

Why Third-Party Mentions Matter More Than Ever

What other websites say about you now shapes three decisions at once: what buyers shortlist, what search engines trust and what AI assistants recommend.

01

Buyers build shortlists from lists

Before contacting a vendor, most buyers search for "best" and "alternatives" articles. If you are missing from those lists, you are often missing from the shortlist.

02

Search engines learn who you are

Consistent mentions on relevant websites connect your brand with your category and topics. Mentions that include a link also add to your backlink profile.

03

AI assistants repeat what the web says

AI tools such as ChatGPT and Google's AI features build answers from published sources, and list articles feature heavily among them.

43.8%

of the page types cited in ChatGPT answers to "best" and recommendation prompts were "best X" list articles.

Our starting point

We Start Where Your Competitors Already Appear

Every campaign begins with a mention gap analysis. We find the lists, reviews and articles that name your competitors but not you, and the sources AI assistants cite for your category.

  • Lists and reviews that rank for your category searches
  • Articles cited in AI answers for buyer questions
  • Unlinked mentions of your brand worth following up

How it works

How Our Brand Mention Campaigns Work

  1. 1

    Audit your current mentions

We review where your brand is already mentioned, how it is described and where competitors appear instead.

  2. 2

    Build the opportunity list

We shortlist relevant listicles, review articles and publications, with traffic and authority data for each.

  3. 3

    You approve every target

Nothing goes ahead without your approval, so every placement fits your brand and goals.

  4. 4

    Outreach and content

We pitch editors and reviewers, supply accurate brand information and help prepare the content each publisher needs.

  5. 5

    Live report

You receive every live URL with how your brand is presented, whether a link is included and the website's data.

What you receive

Everything You Need to See the Results

  • A mention gap analysis against your main competitors
  • A target list of relevant listicles, reviews and publications for your approval
  • Accurate brand descriptions prepared for editors
  • Live URLs for every placement, with how your brand is described
  • Link status for each placement, where a link is included
  • Website traffic and authority data for each placement

Our standards

  • No fake reviews. We never write, buy or incentivise customer reviews. They mislead buyers and are banned by consumer protection rules such as the FTC's 2024 rule.
  • Relevant websites only. No private blog networks (PBNs), hacked sites or unrelated pages.
  • Your approval first. You see every target website before outreach begins.
  • No guaranteed positions. Editors decide where brands appear in a list. Nobody can honestly promise a number one spot or an AI citation.

FAQ

Brand Mentions, Reviews & Listicles: Your Questions Answered

Want to see your mention gaps?

We will show you the lists and reviews where your competitors appear and you do not.

Book a Strategy Call

What is a brand mentions service?

A brand mentions service gets your company, product or founder named on relevant third-party websites, such as industry articles, "best of" lists, comparison pages and editorial reviews. The goal is to make your brand visible where buyers research their options, and to build the wider web presence that search engines and AI assistants draw on.

Do brand mentions help SEO if they do not include a link?

Unlinked mentions do not pass link authority, but they still have value. They put your brand in front of readers, connect your name with your category and topics, and add to the body of information search engines and AI assistants use to understand your brand. Many unlinked mentions can also be turned into links by contacting the publisher; our guide to unlinked brand mentions explains how.

What is a listicle placement, and how do you get one?

A listicle placement is the inclusion of your brand in a list-style article such as "best project management tools" or "top Shopify alternatives". We find relevant lists that rank for your category or are cited by AI assistants, then contact the editors with accurate information about your product and why it belongs on the list. Some publishers also accept new, relevant entries when they update their lists.

Can you guarantee the number one spot in a list?

No. Editors and publishers decide what their lists include and in what order. Any agency that guarantees a top position is either paying for it without telling you or overpromising. We focus on getting your brand in front of the right editors with the right information, and we report exactly where and how you appear.

What do you mean by "reviews"? Do you write customer reviews?

No. Our review work means editorial coverage: hands-on product reviews, comparisons and expert roundups written by third-party writers and publishers. We never write, buy or incentivise customer reviews on platforms such as Google, G2 or Trustpilot. Fake and bought reviews mislead customers and are banned under rules such as the US Federal Trade Commission's 2024 rule on reviews and testimonials.

Do brand mentions and listicles affect ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews?

They can, although no one can guarantee an AI citation. AI assistants build answers from sources across the web, and research suggests list articles are a large share of those sources: an Ahrefs study found "best X" lists made up 43.8% of the page types ChatGPT cited for recommendation prompts. Another Ahrefs analysis of 75,000 brands found branded web mentions correlated more strongly with AI Overview visibility than link metrics did.

Are paid listicle placements allowed by Google?

Paying for a mention or placement is a normal form of advertising. Google's guidelines say that links in paid placements should be marked with rel="sponsored" or rel="nofollow", so they do not pass ranking credit. Google is also stricter about low-quality, self-promotional lists. That is why we focus on credible, relevant websites with real readers, where the mention itself has value for buyers.

How do you choose which websites to target?

We look for websites that cover your category, have real organic traffic, rank for the searches your buyers make or are cited in AI answers, and already mention your competitors. You receive the list with traffic and authority data, and you approve every target before outreach begins.

How long does a brand mention campaign take?

The first placements usually go live within a few weeks of approval, depending on how quickly editors respond and update their articles. Visibility builds over months, as more mentions go live and search engines and AI assistants pick them up. We report each placement as soon as it is published.

What is the difference between brand mentions and Digital PR?

Digital PR creates news, stories or data that journalists choose to cover. Brand mention work targets existing and updated content, such as lists, reviews and comparisons, where buyers evaluate options. Many brands combine them: Digital PR campaigns build authority, while brand mentions keep you present in the content that drives shortlists.

How much does a brand mentions campaign cost?

It depends on your category, the number and type of placements and the authority of the websites involved. We scope every campaign after a short strategy call, so you only pay for placements that fit your goals.

Do you offer brand mentions as a white-label service for agencies?

Yes. Agencies can offer brand mentions and listicle placements to their own clients, with reports under the agency's brand. Read more about how our white-label work operates.
